No. This merger joins whole source files; it cannot interleave individual pages from two scans. Use a PDF page organizer to alternate the fronts and backs first, then merge whole files if needed. Check the final page sequence before sending.

The merger copies pages into a new PDF. Bookmarks, attachments, layers and source metadata do not carry across, so content that was hidden behind an optional-content layer can end up visible on the page. Forms are flattened: the values you typed are drawn into the page and the fields stop being editable, and if a value cannot be drawn the form is left untouched instead — the merge result tells you which happened. Dynamic (XFA) form data cannot survive a page copy. Comments and web links on pages are kept, while links that jumped between pages of a source file are removed because their targets no longer exist. A file that opens without a password can be merged, and the merged copy is no longer protected; anything that needs a password is rejected, as are digitally signed inputs, because merging would invalidate their signatures. Keep the originals and inspect the output.

The combined desktop limit is 150MB. On mobile it is 50MB, with no more than 10 files. Large or complex PDFs can still exceed the memory available to a browser.

If opening the file asks you for a password, yes — unlock it in its original application and save an unencrypted copy first, because BytesPDF never asks for or handles PDF passwords. A file that opens on its own but only restricts editing or printing merges normally, and the result is an unprotected copy; if its owner switched printing, editing and copying off entirely, we refuse it rather than quietly stripping that restriction.

Use a current browser with support for background processing and modern JavaScript. Browser and device capabilities vary, and large or complex files can exceed available memory even below the published cap.
