How to Secure PDF Cleanup in 3 Easy Steps

Browser-local document processing with no application installation required.

1

Drop the File

The inspection is instant and local: you see exactly what the file carries before deciding.

2

Review the Findings

Metadata fields, attachments, scripts — each with a found/none verdict.

3

Download the Clean Copy

A pages-only rebuild with nothing left to strip. Verify it opens, then send that copy.

Why Use Our Secure PDF Cleanup Tool?

Current capabilities and limitations, described without universal quality or speed promises.

🏗️

Rebuild, Don't Patch

Pages are copied into a brand-new document — leftovers from the old file can't survive because they were never copied.

🧾

See What Gets Dropped

Before cleaning, the tool lists what the file carries: Info fields, XMP, attachments, JavaScript, auto-run actions.

🕓

History Gone

Incremental saves and app-private data live in appended revisions — the fresh copy is a single clean body.

🔒

Local & Bounded

Runs in this browser tab. Signed files are refused (cleaning would invalidate them) — and visible text stays visible by design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get clear answers about data flow, formatting, integrity, and usage limits.

What does secure PDF cleanup remove?
Everything that isn't a page: Document-Info fields (author, creating application, timestamps, keywords), the XMP metadata packet, embedded file attachments, document-level JavaScript, auto-run OpenActions, and the appended edit history that 'quick saves' leave behind. The output is a brand-new file containing only your pages.
How is this different from removing metadata?
The metadata tool deletes metadata structures in place. Cleanup goes further: it rebuilds the document from its pages, so attachments, scripts, private application data and save history are dropped too — things a metadata-only pass leaves alone.
Does cleanup change how the pages look?
No. Page content is copied as-is. What changes is everything around the pages. Treat the result as the copy to distribute; keep the original as your master.
Does cleanup protect against malware in PDFs?
It removes the common script carriers (document JavaScript and OpenAction auto-runs), which is good hygiene for files from unfamiliar sources. It is not a malware scanner — keep your normal protections, and still only open PDFs you trust.
Why are digitally signed files refused?
Rebuilding a signed file's pages breaks its signature — the signature covers the original bytes. The tool refuses signed documents so the signature stays valid; keep signed files exactly as received.
