Compress a PDF to 100 KB
Direct answer
A very small budget. Check the exact byte count and read every page of the copy before you send it. Target-size mode is BytesPDF Pro at $9.99/month; checkout status is on the pricing page.
Why this matters: BytesPDF processes the file on your device and does not send it to a compression server. Delivery by email or portal is a separate step.
100 KB is a tight budget. Short text-only PDFs can reach it. Scanned or photo-heavy pages usually cannot, without becoming hard to read. BytesPDF tries stronger compression passes on your device and reports the exact byte count it reached.

| Portal / Recipient | Requirement / check |
|---|---|
| Exact budget | 102,400 bytes (the 100 KB preset) |

| Result label | Closest possible means the target was not reached |
| Readability | Open each page and check numbers, stamps and small print |
Trade-offs
Which Compression Mode Should You Pick?
Three modes — pick based on what the recipient needs to do with the file.
✅ Text documents
Usually the best candidates. Check the result before sending.
🟡 Scans and photographs
Expect softer detail. Compare with the original.
🟡 Digitally signed or fillable forms
A digitally signed file is left unchanged, because compressing it would break the signature. Compress an unsigned copy when the recipient allows it.
Before compressing a high-stakes document
Compression rewrites the PDF. BytesPDF rejects files containing a cryptographic signature because any rewrite would invalidate it. Keep digitally signed files and required PDF/A archival masters unchanged. Bookmarks, links, forms, annotations, accessibility tags, and color profiles are preserved where the PDF library can retain them, but always inspect the downloaded copy before filing or submitting it.
