Compress PDFs for Ecommerce — Specs, Invoices, Return Packets
Start with the current marketplace or buyer rule, then make a separate distribution copy that preserves the product or invoice detail the recipient needs.
Invoices and KYC packs include customer PII and bank details. Process them in the browser; attach only to the marketplace you already trust.
Product PDFs can contain high-resolution studio photos; invoices can contain logos and scanned receipts. Both may carry more image data than a recipient workflow needs. Compress a separate copy locally, verify customer and supplier details, and submit only through the approved marketplace, buyer, or payment channel.
Marketplace Document Submission Checks
Use these checkpoints with the destination's current instructions. Requirements can vary by account, institution, region, document type, and workflow. BytesPDF does not verify or guarantee recipient acceptance. Page reviewed . See the browser-local processing architecture.
| Portal / Recipient | Requirement / check |
|---|---|
| Destination's current file-size rule | Confirm in the exact portal, account, or recipient instructions |
| Accepted file type and PDF rules | Check format, encryption, signature, page, and version requirements |
| Filename and account rules | Use the requested naming and submission workflow |
| Legibility and document integrity | Inspect every required page, field, link, mark, and image |
| Submission evidence | Keep the original and save the portal receipt or confirmation |
Which Compression Mode Should You Pick?
Three modes — pick based on what the recipient needs to do with the file.
✅ Recommended — invoices and packing lists
Starting point for photo-heavy catalogs. Check SKUs, prices, compliance marks, and every barcode in the output.
🟡 Less — print-ready spec sheets
Buyers who print dimension drawings need Less so line art stays crisp.
🔴 Extreme — photo-heavy lookbooks
OK for mood boards. Not for barcodes or compliance marks.
Before compressing a high-stakes document
Compression rewrites the PDF. BytesPDF rejects files containing a cryptographic signature because any rewrite would invalidate it. Keep digitally signed files and required PDF/A archival masters unchanged. Bookmarks, links, forms, annotations, accessibility tags, and color profiles are preserved where the PDF library can retain them, but always inspect the downloaded copy before filing or submitting it.
